He Has Such Great Energy... Where Does She Get All That Energy...

I wish I knew. You've heard it before or maybe you've said it before.

Well now you can learn how to create more energy for yourself with your own "Energy Formula"!

As Henry Truman said, "I studied the lives of great men and famous women, and I found that the men and women who got to the top were those who did the jobs they had in hand, with all the energy and enthusiasm they had."

Let's face it, life today is very fast paced and full. There never seems to be enough time or energy in a day. However, when you learn the secret of how to re-energize yourself you can actually create a better day, feel happier and healthier.

Jane is in her twenties. She is very often exhausted and drained at the end of the day from her high- pressured sales job and trying to keep up with the rest of her life. She finds it a struggle and has to push herself out the door to go out with her friends who are constantly calling. Most of the time she just declines and stays at home. One of the many things that we worked on that has made her more successful is to create her very own energy formula. When Benjamin Franklin said, "Energy and persistence conquer all things," he was definitely on to a very important ingredient to success.

Through our coaching session I uncovered that Jane gets a lot of joy from playing with her dog, exercising, riding her bike, reading and playing the piano (which she hasn't done in years). Then we created a plan of how she can add some of these things into her life. She also continues to add to her list by being aware of when she smiles, feels happy and energetic. Now when Jane gets off track, as we all do, she knows that it's okay because she knows what to do to get back on track. Now she comes to our coaching appointments less stressed, accomplishing more, feeling better about herself and happier.

Most people feel better when they have a plan of action and know what to do. As with anything you learn in the beginning, it may feel uncomfortable and you have to remember what to do, however the results are worth the effort. It is important to know what works for you, as everybody's formula is different. There are always challenges in life and at times we go down that negative self talk black hole, however the key is to know how to climb out. Creating your energy formula will speed up the process. My own personal formula includes meditating, exercise, music, reading, talking and/or connecting with friends, eating right, and having fun which is a big one for me. Although it takes me an extra 10-20 minutes in the morning to meditate, I've observed and learned that I accomplish more and have a better day when I do. What works for me may not work for you, that's why it is important to take the five minutes and start the process.

Here is how to start creating your own "Personalized Energy Formula." The first step is to be aware of when you are smiling, singing, laughing and feeling good. Now make a list of whatever comes into your mind. Don't over think it, just write it down. Next choose one step you can take this week.

Here is an example of how one step can help. John, a successful business owner with 50 employees really liked to run for exercise but hadn't taken the time to do it in years because he felt guilty about taking the time away from his family. His wife was constantly saying "you aren't listening to me," and he admitted his head was still on work. This is the plan we made:

Step One - John packed a bag with his running clothes and put it in the car. He actually drove around with it for two weeks before he was ready for step two.

Step Two - John told his wife why he would be late coming home from work and what he was trying to achieve.

Step Three - John didn't want his employees to see him leaving the office with his running clothes on because he felt guilty about that too. So he drove to the lake, changed in the restroom and ran a couple of miles.

Success! He felt great and started doing it twice a week. His wife noticed that on the days he ran he actually listened to her and he seemed happier. Since then he decided to take it to another level and he put a treadmill and some free weights in his basement. Now when he gets home, he immediately works out five days a week. He has a better relationship with his wife and children and is more present when he is with them. Needless to say he is more fit, feeling better about himself, calmer at work and is a better leader.

Many people say they want to change but how many will take the necessary steps? I challenge you to do something about it this week. All it takes is just one step at a time.

"How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time!" I am betting on you! If Jane and John can do it so can you. Remember people are attracted to positive and energetic people. No wonder they are successful in all areas of their lives.
