George Ivanovich Gurdjieef once said "We must view the mind like a
house with many rooms." Many of us live in a single room.
What new rooms can I go into, to change my life?
I can go into the room of independent action. Independent of the
good opinion of others. I can just learn to forge ahead without even
taking the time to think of what others might be thinking.
I can paint my paintings, frame them and sell them. No need to ask,
"What do you think?" Who cares? If no one buys one, so what! I can
give them away or paint over them. I can write my books and not care
who thinks what, about what I write!
Writing without an audience, who cares if they sell or not! I love
writing. I'll write about memories or how I got to write about selling
or waking up or "for men only." I'll write because I love to. Getting
beyond the opinions of others is like getting beyond my past. I'll
just keep moving forward not thinking about what is past. Isn't that
the same as an opinion?
Asking someone what they think about something you've painted or
written is asking them about the past. Because its already been
created. It exists, so who cares what anyone thinks? That is the room
I intend to stay in. The present only. Where there are no opinions.
Only what is.
I intend to love and enjoy what I create. I intend to love and
enjoy what I write, in each moment. Once completed, I will enjoy them.
I'll look at them or read them when the urge strikes. I will stay in
the room marked present. It's all I have. It's all there is. I am
blessed and grateful that this is so about me! |
