So let's take a look at Strategy Eleven and Twelve this week.

Strategy 13 - Re-language.

Re-languaging. What is it? First we have to understand the power of our words. Words are the programming language for our minds. Just like a "programming code" runs your computer, your words become the program that runs you.

I never really thought about the power of my own words. In fact, much of what came out of my mouth years ago, was not what I now call, "on purpose."

Today, I speak with purpose. I think about what I say and how the words impact all that I am creating for myself now and in the future.

In order to re-language one first needs to "hear" one's own words. What does your own language say about who you are and where you are headed? If someone recorded everything you said for a week and replayed it to you, would you recognize that person?

To begin the process of "re-languaging" you could do the following;

First, listen to the words spoken by those around you. Your family, friends, co-workers and even strangers. You will begin to hear and see a picture that matches, a perfect fit. You will hear the program that runs the people who speak the words. Just take note of what others are saying for a week or two. Think about what the words say about the person. If you know them well enough you will see a pattern.

Second, starting with the end in mind, picture how you want your life to look, picture what you want to manifest. Remember, you are a power-full, creative being, use your imagination. You have permission to go beyond any previous limits. Now think about the words that you would be using if you were there already. If it helps, think about someone you know that already has what you want. How do they speak? What are the words that they use?

Now, begin the re-languaging process. Speak on purpose, speak using only those words that fit with the picture of where you are going. Since we are only ever moving forward into something new, matching your language with your desires, speeds the process of getting what you want. The two are congruent. They reinforce one another.

Have you ever seen a photo in a newspaper with a misplaced caption? It's a mistake. Imagine that a snapshot of your life appeared in the morning paper. What would the caption beneath the photo say? Would it be a match or a mistake?

Strategy 14 - Take an inventory.

Could a business survive without taking an inventory? Maybe. Could you imagine running that business without being able to accurately measure its profit or loss status? How would that feel? What would you want to do? Probably order an inventory be taken at once.

Our lives are similar. Without an inventory on a regular basis, we are not accurately measuring our progress. Maybe we don't care or would rather not learn anything uncomfortable about our status, but nothing worthwhile in life is ever gained by avoiding what is uncomfortable initially. We have talked about this previously, moving toward what is uncomfortable. This is key to "waking up." An inventory, if it sounds uncomfortable, it's time.

An inventory helps us stay awake to our default patterns and to what is holding us back.

Make a list of your character defects, of the people that you have wronged. The situations that are repeating in your life. The people and events that bug you, anger or frustrate you. Step back from the list and think about what have you gained from those situations? What were the reasons for the actions at the time? What were you protecting yourself from really feeling? Were you using those situations or people to avoid what was uncomfortable?

Next, forgive yourself. Make amends where possible, where it would do no harm. Now think about what behaviors and character defects you would like to eliminate. Willingness is all that is required here. Put that into your consciousness and into your speaking. Be willing to share with others, your defects (find like minded company for sharing).

Now take an inventory again in six months and look for progress. Remember, progress not perfection.

Continue to take an inventory from time to time for the rest of your life, unless you want to risk "going out of business."

Be well,

Steve
