When I take the time to lie in my pasture and look up at the evening sky it's very obvious to me that we are such a small part of this miracle called a Galaxy in a Universe. We are just like one of those twinkling dots that I see in our Galaxy and that there are trillions of those dots. Remember that our Galaxy in just one of billions of galaxies... astronomers tell us that there are 200 billion suns in our Galaxy alone and we have not yet counted the planets.
Looking up like that at night, I see that we are just a small part of this miracle. I know it's less than 1% of the total, our little globe and let's call it 1% for easy math's sake. Our world makes up 1% of the total Universe and perhaps it's just 1% of our Galaxy. The Kabala says that we can choose to live in the 1% world or the 99% world. I like that analogy as it reminds me that the little world of what my ego tells me is real is the 1% world. The 99% world is the world of infinite possibility.
Wayne Dyer tells us that EGO stands for Edging God Out, and for those of you that do not believe in a God, it could stand for edging out infinite possibility. If we live in the world of our ego, the 1% world, we make judgments, we make others wrong, we are victims, we are more than some and less than others, we are angry, we react, we hold grudges, we are fearful and anxious, we are not forgiving, we are hurt and take things personally and on and on and on. Read that statement again. How does it feel to you? It felt heavy to me, like living on a heavy, gravity based world.
In the Universe there is no gravity, we can float, like the astronauts do during space travel or a space walk. There is nothing holding us down in the 99% world. We are part of the infinite. We are free to make any number of infinite choices in any moment. We would live free of judgments, we would forgive easily, we would see ourselves in all those people and situations that really bug us, we would not be afraid and anxious, we would not react with hurt or take things personally. We could live as if the Master were within and realize that Life itself is our teacher. In the 99% world, we would have no need to make others wrong. We could master any moment by realizing we do not have to react, we could slow things down and ask, "What is the miracle of the 99% world here? How can I resist and change the ego, 1% reaction?"
Our lives would change miraculously when we realize that we do live in a miracle. We could ask in each challenging situation "what is the miracle of Life asking me to do differently here? What is the miracle of growth for me in this situation? What is the miracle lesson of growth that this difficult person has for me to learn? What is the 99% possibility miracle versus the 1% reaction?"
Take the 99% world thinking with you, the world of infinite choices. When things get challenging this month or when difficult people confront you think of the 99% world questions that I have offered above. Use your own strategy for remembering that we do live in a miracle, a tiny dot of a beautiful garden hurtling through space at 65,000 miles per hour. Think about just how small the choices of our ego are... the 1% choices versus the 99% choice. Notice and record in a journal the difference you're new, 99% choices make. Experiment for yourself and see if living this way makes a difference, don't take my word for it. Do it for yourself.
Just from reading this, which world would you want to live in? Look up tonight in the sky. Just watch it.
You might decide to try the 99% world of infinite possibility and Life as the teacher.
The Master is within you and I know which world I want to live in.
Gratefully yours,
Steve
