What matters most in life? Life is fragile, I know. I was here one second and gone the next. What matters most is not what we accumulate or achieve. What matters most are the people and lives we touch, that we live, not for the self alone, but in service of others. To go beyond where we see the horizon as flat with those that we love, live and work with. To push off of shore for a destination unknown, not in the geographical sense, to go far beyond our imagined limits with all those in our life.
To forgive more than we ever thought possible, to leave all judgments aside and let everyone have what is theirs to have. To be fully present, in each moment, with everyone we meet, leaving our agenda and thoughts for another time. To have more patience, to give more than we ever have before, leaving behind all the thoughts "what would they think"...
What if this moment was your last? How would you feel? Have you gone beyond your own "previously acceptable" limits? Have you learned to live beyond what the good opinion of others says is acceptable?
Having the experience of being here one moment and gone the next, I can tell you for sure that we bring nothing, NO THING, with us when we go. There was no mention of anything I had ever owned, or ever achieved, the only mention when I was on the other side was of "the lives that I had touched."
So relax, lighten up. We only have now, this moment, and the only thing that truly matters is what have you done for others lately?
Give more. Go beyond all of your previously set limits. Leave that closed up self behind and expand out into service of others. Love the moment, be fully present with each person you meet and see the difference it makes in your life when you leave the entire material "bs" behind. Despite what it looks like, we really own nothing. It's all on loan anyway.
We can still have all the toys, homes, land, titles, achievements, etc, there are no rules in a Universe. As long as all of the above does not define us... none of it is who we truly are.
We all come from the same stuff that Galaxies are made of; we are all parts of Suns, Stars, Moons, Oceans, Skies, etc.
Why not live like you are part of a miracle? Why not change your thinking to align yourself with that? You are a miracle and you can create miracles for others and yourself.
Try it. Test it. I have... it is possible.
Change your thinking about what matters most and change your life.
Gratefully yours,
Steve
